"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." - Oscar Wilde
“You’re a wishing-star,” the sky whispered. “You give the world your all.
And that is why, my darling, you are beautiful - even when you fall.”
“You are the elegant Moon,” added the clouds, “whose gentle glow
warms the thawing night. And so, you are loved, even as you slowly grow”
“Dreams of dazzling the Sun,” chimed in the wind, “are harboured by every speck of light.
But the mighty Sun too, would envy the beauty of fireflies on a dark night.”
“Let darkness not blind you, nor allow light to dazzle your eyes –
Are not diamonds born from coal? Do they vie the stars that twinkle in the skies?”
“What if we envied the lilies,” asked the rose, “for blooming without a single thorn?
Or if lilies despised their sludgy homes for the fragrant gardens where we are born?”
“You look up at the birds, and wistfully ask, ‘why can’t I soar like they do?’
Look into the lake, my love - you’ll see the loveliest peacock you ever knew.”
"You have to brave thunderstorms," the woods said, "and watch your leaves wither and die;
gather pieces of your shattered self, and in silent loneliness, wipe tears off your eye
"Before one fine day, when you little foresaw, Spring comes knocking your door
And then, your broken pieces will mirror all the beauty Life had for you in store."
"Awed by the light of the stars, you say, the spark in your eyes has begun to fade
Your eyes, my love, house the rainbow; she is merely shrouded by mists and shade."
"She unravels herself," cried the skies, "only after we shed tears of rain.
Which is why, dearie, we say - love yourself a little more, when you are in pain."
“Go forth, little one,” they all said, “no force can rob you of your light when you shine.
And shine you will, for you have dared to dream - and all that you dreamed of, will be thine.
One day, all that you dreamed of, will be thine."
